Can I use a 2000ml heating mantle on a Small (SA) base?
No. Bases are size-specific to manage electrical power safely. The SA base fits 100ml-500ml mantles. The MA base fits 1000ml-2000ml, and the LA base fits 3000ml-5000ml.
Is it normal for the mantle to smoke during the first use?
Yes, this is a normal phenomenon for new laboratory mantles. The alkali-free glass fiber contains a protective coating that may release white smoke or turn slightly yellow during initial heating. This will disappear after the first few minutes of operation.
Can I use these for both distillation and evaporation?
Absolutely. With a maximum temperature of 380°C and precise PID control, these are ideal for high-boiling point liquid distillation and concentrated evaporation in chemical research.
What is the difference between DXY and DXY-J?
The DXY-J series includes an integrated magnetic stirring system with N38 rare-earth magnets. The standard DXY series provides high-precision constant temperature heating only.
